Meet the HOBY Canada Board | Madison Stocking, Director of Recruitment

Updated: Mar 8, 2022

Hey HOBY,

My name is Madison Stocking, and it is an honour to have the opportunity to introduce myself to you all! As some of you may know, my ambassador year was in 2015, and the rest is just a blur; it is an understatement to say HOBY has inspired me.

Located in the small town of Thamesville, Ontario, and only 15 minutes from the honourable 3 Day, excitement ran through my body as the day quickly approached. Little did I know this conference was just the start of my HOBY journey. Once parting from a group of strangers just 3 days ago, I knew I wanted to positively impact the world. In 2016 I had the privilege to attend the World Leadership Congress held in Chicago, IL, where I got to meet and collaborate with like-minded individuals from all over the world.

From there, I held numerous roles from Junior Staff, Alumni Association, Committee, and the HOBY Canada Board. Each position helped me develop my leadership skills, from the challenges of clashing opinions or an unexpected virus that took us all by surprise. Holding my head high, we overcame the obstacles and persevered and worked as a team to reach a common goal; it was truly motivating to see the team work cohesively through these challenging times.

Currently, I have been working on Recruitment for both HOBY Canada and HOBY Southwestern Ontario. Although this role has its challenges, it brings me joy seeing the students we can recruit and develop their future in leadership. Being able to make a difference, big or small, inspires me to make a difference within the organization and the community.

HOBY has provided me with the confidence to succeed in various leadership roles and inspired me to get my BA in Human Rights and Human Diversity with a minor in Leadership. Currently, I am working with a Non For Profit, and I am on my path to changing others' lives one step at a time.

Take a minute to reflect and think about what one word you would use to describe your HOBY journey? Mine would be growth.

I am beyond excited to see where HOBY takes me and the opportunities it can provide you with. Thank you to all those who have been a part of my HOBY journey thus far.

HOBY Hugs,

Madison Stocking
